Great Big List of Living Books Links {Charlotte Mason Monday}
Hello and Happy Monday! I actually really, really like Mondays – they feel so fresh and new and well, my planner isn’t all crossed out yet! Hooray! *wink*
Over the past while, I’ve been putting together a list of Living Book Links for you. I’ve shared my heart concerning how I feel about curriculum and getting ‘stuck’ on certain timelines and book lists in a previous post, so I won’t repeat myself here.
What I long to do is whisper some encouragement – living and whole book lists are only suggestions. Think of them as springboards, idea starters, possibilities, and potential inspirations. They are a great way to, in one place, find tons of wonderful living book suggestions for various topics, subjects, grade levels, you name it. These lists are not, however, set in stone, required, perfect in any way, complete in any way, or going to fit every child, family or philosophy.
My hope is that these lists work as a resource for Moms like me who are attempting to embrace a Living Books focused education with their children.
If you have a list that I have not included here, feel free to add it in the comments with a link and I’ll try to include it below!

You are simply a blessing to so many of us. I discovered your blog maybe a year ago or so when you were on a hiatus…only to my marvelous surprise days after my discovery…you returned!!! I can't thank you enough for all the time and effort you put into this blog, into your family, into your children and into our dear heavenly father up above!!! The generosity you have in sharing is so very much appreciated! I loved all the lists and organization you put into HOD as I was going down that path. We are using My Father's World but the more I read your blog as well as others, the more tempted I am to stray away from a boxed curriculum and bring freedom into our lives. Do you think it's possible for you to maybe in the future share how you spend your days teaching your precious children? What exactly you use as staples (I know Nature Study is one of them ;o) and all the extras you teach your children? I'm really nervous to make that switch of eliminating our boxed curriculum, so I'm curious to see exactly how you put it all together for your children.
Thank you for the bottom of my heart and my childrens hearts!! Blessings to you and yours!!

Thank you. It's in Christ alone that I draw my strength and anything positive you see in our family is by His grace alone! Thanks for your kind words, I'm so happy the blog has blessed you. π Yes, I would love to share more about our day-to-day but it honestly changes constantly – that's part of the reason I've been so reluctant to talk about what we 'use' and 'love' because as soon as I do that it all switches and I feel silly/weird when people ask me 3 months later if we are still using (insert any type of curriculum) and I say no. ha. The things we use consistently without fail are the Word of God (Bible), and other great living books. Everything else comes and goes and we aren't always covering everything all the time. I can certainly share some of our language arts stuff and what we are using for poetry, art, picture study, etc. π I'll work on that! xo

Have you found any really good living books about Canadian history? There seems to be a lack of lists about that. Unless I just don't know where to look π
Cassandra
I have not had the best luck for this. I can recommend a few resources… one is to check out this link (I added it above) http://thecanadianhomeschooler.com/canadian-history-through-living-books/
And the other would be to maybe take a peek at some of the Canadian History from Donna Ward at http://www.donnaward.net. She has book lists/bundles for Canadian History there. π

Thank you Cassandra for your reply! Since writing this comment I have done some more looking – thought I'd share what I had found. π At the bottom of the following page there is a link to an annotated bibliography of picture books about Canadian history: http://thenhier.ca/en/content/canadian-historical-picture-books-purveyors-canadian-history-and-national-identity Also, there are quite a number listed in this thread from simplycharlottemason: https://simplycharlottemason.com/scmforum/topic/canadian-history-books/ Hope this helps someone. π
